本当に効く！ ストレスすっきり、森林浴のマル秘効果

早いものでもう９月。
まだまだ残暑がきびしいものの、ときおりすっと吹きぬける風のすずしさに
秋を感じる今日このごろ、みなさまいかがお過ごしですか？
もう少し秋が深まると、ハイキングにぴったりの季節になりますね。
私は今年こそ、世界遺産の「熊野古道」にぜひ行ってみたいと思ってます。
緑におおわれた山の奥、空気のきれいなところまで歩いていって、
そこで思いっきり息をすいこんだら、
日頃のストレスがいっきに吹き飛ぶんじゃないかなぁって、期待してます。
でもこのいわゆる「森林浴」って、ホントにストレス解消になるんでしょうか？
だれかきちんと調べたの？ 気のせいなんじゃないの？
そんな疑問をもってる方も多いはず。
ところが、この疑問にきっちり答えた本が、
ついこないだ発売されていたんです。
その本の題名は、「森林医学」。(*1)
ストレスにいいイメージがありながらも、科学的な根拠があいまいだった「森林浴」に
大量の実験データで切りこんだ、ぶあつい専門書です。
本にぎっしりつまった「森林浴ってホントにストレスに効く！」証拠を
ぜんぶご紹介すると長くなるので、中からひとつだけ
「森林浴で幸福なカラダになる」実験結果をご紹介しましょう。(*2)
この実験は、森林浴が人体に与える効果を調べるため、
10名の参加者を募り、森の公園のコースを2時間20分かけて歩きながら
公園内の各所でコルチゾール濃度を測定したものです。
コルチゾールとは、いわゆるストレスホルモンのこと。
コルチゾールの量は幸福度に直結しており、
しあわせな気分の時ほど濃度が低くなることが知られています(*3)。
「森林の効果」のみを純粋にはかるために、
緑の少ない住宅地を歩いたときのコルチゾール量も測定し、結果をくらべたところ、
コルチゾール濃度が、森林なしだと11.3μg/dLだったのに対し、
森林ありだと8.54μg/dLと、実に32%もの違いが生じました。
なるほど、ただ歩くよりも、森林の中を歩いたほうが
よりしあわせな気分になれるんですね～
いつもの散歩でも、緑が多いところをえらんで歩いてみようかな？

今年はもう、ハイキングに行きまくるしかありません。
仕事にいきづまってストレスを感じたその瞬間、ハイキングに出発だ！
